Curatorial analysis

Optical heat commands the viewing experience from the very first encounter. A tide of vermilion and crimson anchors the base of the canvas through a subtle curve that evokes the crest of a hill, a swelling of fertile earth, or the mineral memory of topography. Above this compact mass, the matter expands upward into an incandescent transition of yellows and oranges that draws no sharp boundaries, burning instead with the vibration of a superheated atmosphere.

What disrupts any predictable reading is the cerulean eruption suspended across the upper half. A dense constellation of turquoise and magenta splatters floats over the amber ground like residue of refracted light or an aerial precipitation. These tiny droplets, sprayed across the surface with apparent spontaneity, operate as an absolute thermal counterpoint: the electric chill of the blue pigment cuts through the expansion of earthy fire and generates an optical tension that keeps the eye in perpetual oscillatory motion.

The execution privileges accumulation and stratified layering. Luis Chacón overlays fluid washes, stippling, and dense showers of pigment that grant the surface an almost tactile texture, akin to a crust weathered by sun and wind. Light does not appear cast from an external source, but rather emanates from the deep strata of the painting, filtering through the myriad corpuscles populating the pictorial plane.

Under the title Por Naranjo, the painting avoids landscape mimesis to settle firmly within the realm of sensory memory. It does not depict an identifiable mountain range or farmland; it captures the atmospheric density of a journey, the glare of an afternoon, and the telluric vibration of a region distilled into pure chromatic energy.
