Curatorial analysis

Two white irises emerge in the pictorial space with a vertical fragility that contrasts with the vegetal density surrounding them. The background is not a neutral atmosphere, but a vibrant field of moss, sage, and olive tones stippled with translucent patterns reminiscent of antique lace or weathered botanical textures. This layering produces a sense of stratified depth, as though the image were the outcome of time accumulating upon paper that has absorbed the humidity of an indoor garden.

The construction of the corollas is resolved through fluid, luminous strokes of pure white, tautened by shadows in umber and sepia that bestow volume without compromising their lightness. The composition's axis rests on the asymmetry of the two stems: the flower on the left rises with greater prominence, unfurling its petals toward the upper corner, while the one on the right accompanies it on a secondary plane, balancing the visual weight through the ascending cadence of its narrow leaves.

Across the lower third cuts a white, swift, and deliberately illegible calligraphy, crossing the stems like an annotation made in passing. This gesture evokes botanical specimen plates from centuries past or fragments of personal correspondence preserved between the pages of a book. By positioning the word at the boundary of comprehension, the text relinquishes its linguistic function to become rhythmic texture, a complicit mark that interrogates the passage of time and the human urge to name what is perishable.

The screenprint achieves a precise synthesis between the graphic discipline of the patterned background and the freshness of the manual gesture within the blossoms. Framed by the silence of the outer white margins, the work turns a floral motif into an intimate visual reliquary, where botanical beauty coexists with the mystery of written memory.
