Curatorial analysis

A slice of watermelon hangs from the nocturnal canopy like a crescent moon, establishing the biting, dreamlike tone that rules this park. Rather than a peaceful Sunday promenade, the space becomes a stage charged with crossed glances, latent desire, and urban mischief. The bluish foliage and dim light conceal nothing; instead, fairground bulbs illuminate the intimate and comical tensions of public life.

The visual path is anchored by the monumental female figure walking away toward the heart of the canvas. Her voluptuous anatomy, clad in a tight turquoise garment, commands the viewer's gaze as well as that of a faceless suitor waiting with flowers and an open umbrella beneath a clear sky. Around this unusual courtship gravitate simultaneous vignettes: the circular motion of the carousel with its horses glowing in red and cerulean, girls spinning hoops, the street vendor pushing his cart, and park-goers watching from the benches. A continuous counterpoint emerges between childhood play and overt adult carnality.

The canvas vibrates through an atmosphere saturated with deep blues, violets, and emerald greens, punctured by bursts of vivid carmine and glowing yellow bulbs. The oil surface is rich and tactile, worked with thick impasto, subtle scumbling, and short strokes that break the ground and foliage into an almost textured mosaic. This painterly density imparts a tangible weight to the setting, as though the warm tropical air had coagulated. In the lower corner, a bird perched on a bench back gazes straight outward, sealing an atmosphere where absurdity and popular memory coexist with absolute naturalness.
