Curatorial analysis

The absolute black of the support acts here not as a passive backdrop, but as an active void that encloses, outlines, and presses upon the material. Across this impenetrable surface emerge torn fragments of tissue paper, whose extreme material fragility contrasts immediately with the sharpness of their jagged, angular edges. The silhouettes seem to rise from a geological fracture or a seismographic pulse, where the torn perimeter marks with surgical precision the boundary between contained light and the night that surrounds everything.

The spatial distribution organizes two forces in continuous tension. Across the upper-middle register, a horizontal sequence of razor-sharp crests spans the picture with a syncopated rhythm, reminiscent of a distant mountain range or an eroded mineral script. Toward the lower right quadrant, however, this cadence consolidates into a large-scale ascending mass, a vertical spire shooting toward the top of the plane with the verticality of a Gothic cathedral or a brittle block of ice. This interplay of heights destabilizes the visual weight, compelling the eye to travel from the rhythmic dispersion on the left to the almost architectural force of the opposite flank.

Within the perimeter of each fragment, the medium behaves inversely to the sharpness of its silhouette: diluted pigments in salmon, ocher, sky-blue, and seafoam tones bleed into subtle washes, revealing the microscopic wrinkles and inherent translucency of the tissue paper. This internal luminescence lends the torn profiles the appearance of incandescent or mineral matter viewed against the light. Stripped of any literal narrative, the piece finds its eloquence in the direct dialogue between the vulnerability of an ephemeral ground and the graphic permanence of the tear, forging a poetics wherein the broken becomes structural and the translucent acquires the force of a captured lightning bolt.
