Curatorial analysis

A playful and deliberate rereading of Van Gogh's celebrated bedroom in Arles underpins the architecture of this scene, transforming that solitary retreat into a family vigil brimming with warmth. The wordplay in the title strictly sets the dual temporal and spatial key of the composition: there are four female figures populating the room, and it is precisely 3:45, a time frozen simultaneously on the analog wall clock and on the digital display resting on the bedside table.

The material treatment commands the first sensory impression. Rather than settling for uniform flat areas, the canvas is populated by hundreds of circular acrylic protrusions dotting the walls and floor. These raised droplets, many crowned by a dark central dot, act as tiny lenses that catch the ambient light, endowing the blue walls and golden floorboards with a tactile, almost organic texture. This craftsmanship of drops coexists with a continuous black contour, rendered with a clean, graphic pulse that delineates each volume with cartoon-like precision.

The space bursts into a high-saturation chromatic clash. The cerulean blue enveloping the room collides with the intensity of the cadmium red on the bed and nightstand, while the yellow floorboards project a steep perspective pulling the viewer inward. Around the bed, the narrative unfolds: a woman reads a book to two wide-eyed girls with matching hairstyles, while a stylized figure with an elongated neck and serene demeanor accompanies them from an armchair on the left. Every object, from the hung coats to the framed tree landscape, reinforces an intimate and impregnable refuge.

The piece succeeds in interweaving reverence for historical masters with an unmistakable pop freshness. The everyday takes on a magical and luminous dimension here, where the bedtime ritual turns into a tribute to feminine complicity, sustained by a lucid and overflowing graphic humor.
