Curatorial analysis

A bold blue frame claims the foreground, transforming the paper's surface into an inescapable focal point. Despite the intimate scale of the sheet (measuring barely twenty-three by eighteen centimeters), the visual impact is immediate. Inside this ultramarine window, the cut silhouette of a zoomorphic creature or totemic figure is suggested, suspended above horizontal crossbars that fragment the opening. This central motif operates simultaneously as an enclosure and an optical target, asserting the title of the print with unavoidable frontality.

Beneath the blue, the screenprint unfolds in successive strata that contest the depth of the two-dimensional plane. A thick white ribbon, rendered in a continuous calligraphic gesture, traces an oval loop that binds the peripheral zones and destabilizes the rigidity of the overlying frame. Behind this calligraphy appears a forest-green block marked by rhythmic incisions, recalling an archaic textile, an ancient matrix, or a seal. The background, divided between an ochre yellow mottled with scraped textures and an earthy red across the lower left quadrant, introduces a tactile vibration that belies the flat neatness often associated with the graphic medium.

The interaction between these layers eludes smooth fusion in favor of a deliberate friction. A persistent counterpoint arises between the porous texture of the ochre fields and the opaque weight of the blue ink, as well as between the orthogonal containment of the frame and the elliptical freedom of the white ribbon. The silkscreen process thus takes on an almost tectonic dimension: each ink layer acts as an autonomous body laid over the preceding stratum without stifling its memory. The center evoked by the print is not a mathematical coordinate of rest, but a vibrant nexus where contemporary printmaking achieves the enigmatic resonance of a primal sign.
