Curatorial analysis

A rigorous, almost architectural vertical cadence governs the visual field of this large panoramic format. Spanning more than two meters in width, the surface is organized through a succession of grooves that immediately evoke the material memory of the urban and industrial landscape: sheets of weathered corrugated zinc, climate-worn palisades, or textile screens filtering diffuse light. Yet rather than a literal depiction, the canvas operates as a tactile abstraction where linear repetition establishes a steady musical pulse, disrupted only by subtle chromatic shifts and pigment densities.

The field fractures into three clearly differentiated spatial registers. On the left flank, a subdued mass of grayish purples and deep indigos dominates, built from transparent glazes and swept strokes that reveal the brightness of the ground along the edges of each furrow. Toward the center, an unexpected narrow band of aquamarine and cerulean tones surges vertically with a more fluid character, acting as a luminous hinge that destabilizes symmetry. To the right, the area opens into a whitish, mineral atmosphere, where chalky cords of pure white alternate with greenish and ash-colored shadows, creating a sharp counterpoint of frontal light against the dimness of the opposite edge.

The pictorial matter reveals a patient, physical handling, with areas where paint has dripped freely alongside dry scumbling, deliberate impasto, and sediments that endow the canvas with the texture of a weathered wall exposed to the elements. Light does not emanate from a fictitious exterior source, but from the tension between the surfacing whites and the receding darker layers. In that oscillation between the geometry of the furrow and the organic imperfection of the painterly trace, the surface suspends time, turning the roughness of the everyday into a sober visual meditation.
