The gaze is held captive within an almost suffocating vegetable mass, where telluric energy manifests not in stone or ash, but in the biological overflow of the jungle. The true crater here is the foliage erupting in concentric swells and sinuous lines toward all four corners of the frame.

The foreground is dominated by large, fleshy-ribbed leaves that ripple like tongues of cold lava, delineated with an agile draughtsmanship that emphasizes their muscular architecture. Behind them, the rugged trunk anchors the left third so the scene does not collapse into chaos, while the linear fronds of a palm open a fan-like grille filtering the dimness.
