Curatorial analysis
An atmosphere of vegetal stillness and contained light sustains this floral grouping, where botanical matter abandons any descriptive urge to resolve itself into faceted planes. The flower is not portrayed through tactile volume or the fragility of its organic cycle, but through a rigorous geometrization that orders natural disorder without diminishing its lyricism.
The space is articulated through vertical bands and angular cuts rising from the base. The stems unfold into ribbons of dry and olive greens that guide the eye toward the upper third, where the corollas open into almost prismatic cups. At that crowning point, the chromatic handling shifts: the pastel pinks and creamy whites seem to hover over the earthy ground, not through heavy impasto, but through scumbled glazes that reveal the grain of the support and generate a remarkably subtle luminous vibration. The intersecting lines crossing the petals break the containment of each bloom, integrating it with the surrounding air in a kind of cubist transparency.
The waxed wood technique provides a decisive matte warmth. The wax dampens any harsh glare, unifying the planes into a tactile surface that invites close viewing and heightens the sense of suspended time. Toward the bottom, what might hint at a vase or a tabletop remains barely indicated by golden ochre rectangles, avoiding domestic anecdote to consolidate an architectural order.
By doing away with the drama of traditional chiaroscuro, the image proposes a serene contemplation in which the floral motif serves as a vehicle to study the intersection between drawing, transparency, and memory. The tulips endure not as an ephemeral offering, but as a quiet chord of vertical rhythms and peaceful transparencies.
