Curatorial analysis

A thick, almost mineral atmosphere suspends the encounter between two ghostly presences that seem to emerge from the very combustion of the night. In this veiled landscape, the gloom does not nullify vision: it filters it through a haze of ash and chromatic vapor. To the left, a seated figure wrapped in a pale mantle rests behind the sharp silhouette of a turned railing; to the right, upright and monumental despite its slender build, a totemic entity stands upon the ground beside the vestige of a wheel. Both wear monumental crests or wings projecting toward the margins, transforming their heads into silent horizontal arrows.

The screenprint achieves an unusual texture here, akin to rubbed pastel or drawing on porous lithographic stone. The artist evades the flat inks common to the medium to construct glazes that layer deep charcoals with glowing pinks, ochre earths, and icy blues. Amidst this density float filaments of pure energy. An arc of coral light stretches between both bodies like an orbit or a magnetic lasso, while two turquoise-toned trails streak across the upper section, breaking the gravitational pull of the dark background. These lines do not define closed contours, but trajectories, incandescent traces signaling a sudden transit or a suspended ritual.

Under the title of this print, the notion of a bird does not respond to a zoological or literal depiction, but rather to a condition of air and fire. The boundary between the human, the animal, and the telluric dissolves at that solitary fence separating the foreground from the fiery background, staging the scene as a threshold where rural memory and magical reverie coexist in silence. What burns is not a destructive flame, but a secret glow pulsing beneath the opaque surface, proving that mystery requires no clamor to assert its power.
