Curatorial analysis

An abrupt verticality anchors this urban vision, where precariousness transforms into pure architecture. The settlement climbs along the left margin through a dense layering of sloped roofs, wooden planks, and dark openings that seem to keep watch over the void. There are no visible foundations: each tier rests upon the previous one in defiance of gravity, governed by an almost instinctive logic of interlocking forms that is condensed into a fractured rhythm of sharp edges and crisscrossing inclines.

Opposite the accumulated weight of the dwellings, the right quadrant opens into an empty atmosphere taut with an intricate web of cables cutting across the air. These dark filaments do not merely connect off-frame, unseen structures; they weave a geometric spiderweb against the pale background. Their sagging trajectories and improvised intersections introduce a dynamic vibration that counterbalances the tectonic mass of the rooftops, suspending in their midst a small knot or lamp that acts as an understated focal point.

The India ink is handled with rigorous economy: calligraphic lines, energetic and at times rough, outline the skeleton of the materials (corrugated sheets, timber boards, crude cross-shaped antennas), while faint washes of gray modulate the planes of the facades and the shading beneath the eaves. This calibrated dilution lends volume without diminishing the raw honesty of the paper, whose white texture functions simultaneously as luminous sky and an indispensable breathing space against overcrowding.

The neighborhood dispenses with any explicit human presence, yet humanity's mark saturates every corner. Antennas reaching toward the sky, diminutive windows, and the electrical entanglement all attest to a persistent vitality colonizing the hillside. Rather than reducing the setting to a mere documentary record, this perspective redeems the structural nobility of the informal settlement, turning everyday vulnerability into an arresting poem of lines.
