Curatorial analysis

A hundred-dollar bill hangs from a line with domestic clothespins along the top margin, dissolving into droplets that defy the surrounding aridity. Below, a desert landscape of undulating horizons and coppery skies sets the stage for an allegorical column in which consumption, finitude, and flesh interlace seamlessly.

The visual core rests on a monumental apple adorned with a corporate tie. From its crimson flesh springs a brass faucet draining a viscous scarlet fluid into a wooden stave bucket, establishing a rigorous vertical axis. Above the fruit, a shaft of fused human faces caught in an elastic twist exposes wandering eyes and bared teeth, supporting an hourglass at the summit where temporal grains seem suspended. Beside this anthropomorphic tower, a female figure with sightless eyes, dissolving into a pale blue vapor, rests her hand upon the wood, imbuing the scene with a mythic and ghostly aura.

Mario Rojas Kolomiets executes the surface with illusionistic technical mastery, where textural contrasts are decisive. The clarity of glass, the oily sheen of the fruit skin, and the dry roughness of the terrain coexist under theatrical, crepuscular illumination rich in warm ochres and reddish earths.

The layering of monetary, organic, and chronological symbols opens readings regarding exploitation and the impermanence of modern systems. By conflating commercial voracity with bodily vulnerability, the painting puts forward a metaphor for the exhaustion of vital energy in a world where every resource, human or natural, is ultimately quantified and drained away.
