A praying mantis of colossal scale leans over the sleeper with the rigorous calm of a watchful apparition. Its vibrant, almost electric green disrupts the earthy atmosphere of the setting, piercing the tranquility of the human figure reclined upon a crimson cushion. With his head framed by a yellow coif and his body draped in blue, the sleeper remains plunged in absolute unconsciousness, oblivious to the suspended weight of the insect that seems to inspect or safeguard his breathing.

The space sheltering them answers not to terrestrial logic, but to the suspended geometry of a cloister. Arches of reddish terracotta, arranged in crossing and multiplying perspectives, frame a nocturnal sky illuminated by a slender crescent moon.
