Curatorial analysis

Absolute weightlessness governs this canvas where a female body, suspended in a quiet immersion, seems to have shed all earthly weight. There is no sense of suffocation or violent shipwreck; the inverted descent, with the head tilted downward and hair undulating freely, suggests instead a gentle surrender to the depths of consciousness.

The handling of natural light establishes a rigorous chromatic and spatial hierarchy. At the top, the water surface fractures the exterior brightness into iridescent reflections, where subtle salmon and golden gleams permeate the aquatic mass. As the gaze descends, cerulean and turquoise condense into a deep, near-abyssal indigo that absorbs the lower contours. The human figure is caught precisely at this threshold of luminous transition, receiving an overhead glow that sculpts the volumes of the thighs, arched back, and arms with flawless anatomical delicacy.

Two contrasting material treatments coexist on the support. While the skin is rendered through subtle glazes that achieve a translucent, vaporous atmosphere, the marine environment displays a visible painterly texture, with impastos, scraping, and scumbles that endow the liquid medium with tangible physical density. The tiny bubbles, escaping in ascending clusters, not only mark the opposing vector to the immersion but also introduce a punctual kinetic rhythm, as though trapping fragments of time in their rise toward the air.

By titling the canvas Soñando, the artist places the scene within the realm of the oneiric. Water ceases to be merely a physical element and becomes a metaphor for the unconscious: an enveloping space where nudity does not imply vulnerability, but rather a total communion with inner silence and the mystery of quiet repose.
