Curatorial analysis

Three male figures in profile and three-quarter view dominate the lower right corner with an almost stone-like density. Wrapped in heavy coats and hats that swallow the light, their furrowed faces and beards barely emerge through the sharp, fine incisions skillfully carved out of the block. At the opposite end, a seated woman beside a young girl viewed from behind completes this darkened human enclosure, concentrating the scene's physical gravity and silence in the plane closest to the viewer.

That heaviness dissolves abruptly at the center of the print. Across an oval patch of green lawn, a girl dressed in vibrant blue jumps rope, suspended in midair with open arms and tucked legs, while another small figure in pink holds the cadence of the game. The contrast admits no ambiguity: against the brooding stillness of old age, childhood emerges as pure dynamism and chromatic brilliance, linked by the faint white arc of the rope stretching across the space and tightening the composition from side to side.

The wood's own grain asserts its voice across the middle ground and backdrop. The block's natural texture prints as a constant horizontal vibration running through the pavement and atmosphere, turning the park's air into a striated, nearly tactile surface. Within that intermediate dimness rest other presences, silhouettes stripped of artifice and strollers sketched with minimal white lines upon stone benches, reclining bodies and a fleeting dog, rescued from the dark ink by swift, clean cuts.

The park thus operates as a stage where the different ages of life coexist without meeting each other's gaze, bound only by the continuity of public space. Between the olive-green foliage crowning the upper edge and the brooding mass of old men below, the jumping child is no casual anecdote, but the luminous pulse defying the sluggish weight of time.
