Curatorial analysis

Three polished metal cherries dominate the visual center, suspended with a firmness that defies their apparent weight. This is not a traditional still life; the fruits have shed their perishable nature to become burnished forms, vessels of golden reflections and dense shadows cast against a wall of complex patinas. This metamorphosis of an everyday object into an almost sculptural entity immediately establishes a calculated strangeness, in which trompe-l'œil dialogues with textural abstraction.

The space that supports them is neither a table nor a defined horizon, but a large-scale, weathered, telluric surface. Across a background worked in ochres, sepias, and coppery tones unfolds a dense memory of painterly gestures: linear incisions, uneven glazes, tactile reliefs, and the suggestion of ruined architecture or an industrial gate dotted with rivets. The rhythmic alignment of the three fruits, arranged in an almost musical horizontal cadence, stabilizes the turbulence behind them and guides the eye through their curved stems and oval shadows, which float just off that rugged plane.

Amid this near-monochrome atmosphere of aged bronze and metallic warmth, deliberate splatters and strokes of fiery red break through. It is a pure, thick, unmodulated carmine that seems to recall the original flesh sacrificed in casting the fruit. These marks operate not as mere ornament, but as optical triggers: they shatter the hermetic stillness of the metal and reignite the pictorial surface with spontaneous urgency.

Luz Propia places the viewer at a tactile threshold where the solidity of manufactured matter and the erosion of time converge in a tense silence, illuminated from within by the radiance of its own volumes.
