Curatorial analysis

A schematic silhouette of a bicycle, drawn with the urgent freshness of white chalk on an imaginary blackboard, levitates over what appears to be the mouth of a stage or a proscenium in half-light. This frontal, weightless superposition immediately challenges the spatial logic of the background: a veiled architecture rendered in moss, earth, and muted ochre tones, where rows of seats can be discerned converging toward a central platform.

The space operates as a diffuse memory or an architectural recollection submerged beneath a dense pictorial mist. The artist works through layers that juxtapose the material density of the graphic ground with direct, linear marks in pure white. A dashed line traverses the scene horizontally at the level of the wheels, reinforcing this quality of a diagram or stage note suspended in the air. Toward the lower third, where the atmosphere thickens and descends into greenish shadow, a minute reddish core emerges, encircled by a halo of light, a minimal visual anchor balancing the buoyancy of the upper half.

The title "Ensayo" (Rehearsal/Essay) and the handwritten inscription evoking an earlier date in the lower margin suggest a dialogue between the time of the sketch and the consummation of the intervened image in 2010. Read through this lens, the scene does not seek to resolve a physical perspective, but rather to register the moment prior to the performance or the residual echo of a set already dismantled. The two-wheeled machine becomes an errant symbol, a mental vehicle parked in the middle of a mute auditorium, articulating a space where the theatrical rehearsal becomes an exercise in poetic introspection.
