Curatorial analysis

Two deep, waterlogged tracks open the path in the foreground. The title, Doble Tracción (Four-Wheel Drive), immediately finds its meaning in these mud ruts holding puddles of a blue identical to the sky above. This is not merely a bucolic landscape; the ground exposes the recent, heavy passage of a rural vehicle, introducing human presence through its trace before unveiling the inner countryside.

On either flank, two monumental trees function as an organic proscenium. The one on the left, rendered in dense violet tones, and the one on the right, glowing in carmine and magenta, enclose the frame through bark saturated with spiral patterning. This swirling texture, reminiscent of wood grain or fingerprints, contrasts with the bareness of the upper branches that stand against the limpid backdrop. Through this theatrical aperture, the gaze enters a valley organized into geometric plots, where cultivated fields, ochre bands, and a solitary central tree with pink foliage articulate a rhythmic geography.

Color here does not seek to document natural light, but to construct a space of psychological and playful intensity. The luminous yellows of the zigzagging paths guide the eye toward the blue mountains in the background, which seal the horizon with faceted crests. There is a notable tension between the patient, almost decorative drawing in the grass and foliage textures and the boldness of the flat planes.

Ultimately, the painting proposes a circular reading. The earth churned by the wheels mirrors the sky, binding the lower edge to the upper atmosphere in a continuous cycle where human intervention in the territory coexists with a nature that is exuberant yet tamed.
