Curatorial analysis

The ultramarine blue, dense and speckled like a starlit sky, immediately commands and directs the gaze. In this deep mantle rests the presence of two figures, a seated woman holding and plucking a lute, and another projecting forward in near-horizontal flight, blowing a trumpet toward the center of the scene. This burst of electric blue contrasts sharply with the toasted, ochre, and golden atmosphere that envelops the rest of the print, establishing a tension between the heaviness of the drapery and the weightlessness of sound.

Upward, earthly density gives way to a classical reverie. Over a band of clouds bathed in amber light, three ethereal nude muses perform their own concert with harp and flute. The composition balances these two spheres through calculated visual axes; the dizzying diagonal of the flying trumpeter cuts across the center, connecting earth with sky, while on the right flank, a Victorian lamppost atop a stone pedestal introduces a solemn verticality, anchoring the dream to a tangible architecture. In the lower gloom, an ashlar block carved with the theater's initials reinforces this notion of historical foundation.

The screenprinting technique achieves a remarkable texture here through layers of transparent inks and granular halftones that emulate the patina of time and the warmth of a fresco. The illumination does not obey a single logical light source, but rather a dramatic quality where bodies seem to cast their own radiance against the shadowy backgrounds.

This allegory sets aside the physical facade to summon the inner pulse of the theatrical venue: music conceived as a threshold where mythology and civic memory coexist. The stage is presented not as a structure of concrete or marble, but as an inhabited territory where sound takes on body, color, and permanence.
