Curatorial analysis

The gallop in this canvas does not tread on solid ground: it flows like a warm tide where anatomy is subordinated to the rhythm of waves and wind. Héctor Molné strips the horses of their earthly weight, turning them into sinuous, almost aquatic creatures whose elongated necks and sharp profiles recall both mythical steeds and seahorses emerging from a crest.

The scene advances in a pronounced diagonal surge from left to right. In the foreground, a white horse carries a naked female figure rendered in luminous yellows across its back; her body does not ride in the strict sense, but rather emerges or merges with the animal's coat. Behind them, two other equines replicate the movement in staggered layers, functioning as echoes or suspended frames of the very same collective impulse. The manes, blazing in coppery and reddish hues, act as fiery trails contrasting against the greenish blues and grays sweeping across the lower register.

The pictorial medium is applied through fluid glazes and sweeps that dissolve sharp contours. There are no hard edges; the brush drags the pigment in translucent layers to evoke a sense of simultaneous aerial and watery velocity. Nor does the light stem from an external source, radiating instead from within the figures themselves, chiefly from the central horse's white flank and the woman's golden silhouette, concentrating the greatest visual tension right there.

This indeterminacy between water, air, and flesh transforms the painting into a daydream of freedom and metamorphosis. Molné does not depict a ride, but rather the experience of continuous motion, where boundaries between rider, beast, and atmosphere dissolve to give way to an organic torrent governed solely by grace and vital momentum.
