Curatorial analysis

An uncompromising chromatic explosion commands the space: strident yellows, magentas, and an absolute cerulean blue that ask for no permission. In Gravedad Cero, Carlos Tapia dismantles the very notion of weight and habitability to transform a vaulted architectural enclosure into a playful resonance chamber, where structure serves as a springboard for the uncanny.

The vanishing point deliberately shatters under a forced, expansive perspective. The metallic framework of the ceiling, an openwork dome revealing patches of sky and clouds resolved with vigorous white impasto, bends the laws of physics over a floor faceted into polychrome blocks. Amid this cage of light, three stylized felines defy the logic of rest: one lunges from above in an improbable twist, another glides or levitates along an undulating red ribbon bordered in venomous green, and a third reclines, with an imperturbable gaze of turquoise irises, in the hollow of a hemispherical chair that seems anchored barely by convention.

The weightlessness announced in the title is not a mere anecdote, but the engine of plastic tension. Several reddish glass vessels float suspended at various heights and angles, turned into ethereal masses that reveal the architecture behind them. The bold, dark outlines defining each body and pillar do not imprison the figures; rather, they serve as dikes containing an overflowing chromatic vibration.

The domestic interior ceases to be a shelter, morphing into a stage suspended between dreams and graphic narrative. Rather than inducing vertigo, the free fall of these domestic animals unfolds as a serene and radiant choreography, a playful instant frozen in time where the ordinary world has resolved to disobey every earthly constraint.
