Curatorial analysis

A whirlwind of detached corollas defies any botanical repose across this large-format vertical surface. The stems, sinuous and elastic like vines running wild, neither seek zenithal light nor anchor themselves to soil; they float and rotate swept by an invisible current that dismantles the classical notion of the still life. The flowers, stripped of the canonical yellow's hegemony, burst into a polyphony of vermilions, lilacs, vivid pinks, and deep oranges, transforming recognizable botany into moving flames.

Against a neutral, enveloping ground fluctuating between golden ochre and burnished bronze, the paint gains volume and tactile weight. Thick acrylic impasto leaves visible ridges upon the petals, while nervous, dark marks contour each element like shards of shadow testifying to the speed of the descent. This tension between the continuous, atmospheric support and the foreground of stems intersecting in pronounced curves generates an ambiguous spatiality: there is no definitive top or bottom, but rather a shared state of weightlessness.

Chromatic contrast sustains the vital pulse of the scene. The intrusion of a cerulean blue stem notably interrupts the green logic of chlorophyll, a deliberate rupture accentuating the imaginative character of the whole. By stripping these sunflowers of their earthly weight and turning them into an intertwined rhythmic mechanism of curves, the painting captures a moment of suspended collapse where falling is experienced as dance.
