Curatorial analysis

A cobalt-blue cat, standing like a domestic totem upon a turquoise chair, fixes its gaze on the viewer while the rest of the space seems to lose its gravity. Its stillness immediately contrasts with the vertiginous tilt of the round table, pitched forward into the foreground through an almost overhead perspective. Across that circular, deep burgundy surface, the feast that gives meaning to the title unfolds: a platter of vibrant pink shrimp, glasses of golden liquor, a half-consumed bottle, and an ice bucket that seems to melt into the warmth of the afternoon.

The space vibrates through an uncompromising chromatic confrontation. Vermilion red backgrounds collide with the brilliant green of monstera leaves, while the floor breaks apart into tiles of primary and secondary colors that ripple like an elastic tapestry. Nothing remains static; sinuous black outlines hold pure planes of color applied with generous impasto, defining contours with the spontaneity of a painter who privileges a lively pulse over calculated precision. The transparent glasses do not seek to mimic glass, but rather project its graphic gleam against the wood.

This distortion of lines and the slanting of objects suggest the sensory alteration typical of an extended gathering after drinks. The scene deliberately dispenses with human diners, letting the remnants of the gathering and the feline presence narrate the event. The cat is no mere decorative element on the chair; it appears as the sole lucid witness or the true host of a celebration that has just been suspended. In this intersection of everyday hedonism and domestic uncanniness, the painting captures the uninhibited lightness and enveloping warmth of an afternoon where time dissolves into drinks.
