Curatorial analysis

A golden ochre atmosphere sustains an assemblage where still life and human presence deliberately merge. In this compressed space, evoking the frontality of a secular altarpiece, the motifs are not distributed in depth but are articulated within a rhythmic grid of curved and angular facets. Two solemn figures watch over the upper third; their schematic heads and geometric headdresses evoke archetypal masks, while their torsos unfold in broken planes of weathered turquoises, muted violets, and earthy tones.

Toward the center, the verticality of the characters gives way to the organic fullness of fruit forms. Arranged atop a volume suggesting a dark table or plinth, these curved and semicircular masses condense terracotta, cerulean, and toasted yellows. The scene gains a quiet tension with the arrival of the birds. In the lower left corner, a bird of clean silhouette and pearlescent plumage gazes toward the outer margin, acting as a visual anchor against the dynamism of the green bird fluttering on the right flank. This intersection of the animal, the botanical, and the totemic blurs the boundaries between the domestic still life and myth.

The pictorial treatment operates through accumulation and scraping, imbuing the surface with a granular patina reminiscent of baked clay or weathered plaster walls. Light does not emanate from an identifiable external source, but from the intrinsic vibration of the ochres and the calculated contrast between sharp contours and softened transitions. The canvas suspends its objects in a hermetic equilibrium, as though each fruit and feather were part of a ceremonial code in which everyday matter attains timeless dignity.
