Curatorial analysis

A reclining woman in a celestial blue dress commands the foreground, leaning against a table that places a domestic still life in the middle of an open hillside. Her elongated neck and frontal gaze disassemble natural proportions, while behind her two figures in yellow and crimson clasp hands in a suspended dance. The allusion to Artemis and the dancers of Tarquinia shifts the memory of archaic and funerary ritual into an intimate scene, where mythology turns into an elastic body and everyday mystery.

Space is not organized through traditional perspective, but through three resolute chromatic bands. A deep forest green at the base supports the weight of the bodies and the plant debris scattered across the ground; a vast mustard-yellow hill illuminates the center; and a clear cobalt blue opens the horizon, crowned by birds rendered in synthetic, white lines. The dark, calligraphic, and continuous line not only delimits the color fields, but endows the silhouettes with a sinuous, almost choreographic rhythm that counterbalances the strange inertia of the figures.

In contrast to this tonal vivacity, the composition maintains a subtly dislocated balance. On the left, the tilted small house and the piece of furniture with its jug and fruit bowl assert an architectural, sedentary presence. On the right, the leaning angle of the dancers precipitates a diagonal tension that never quite collapses, cushioned by the delicate clasp of fingers and the composure of bare feet. There is no urgency in this encounter: gestures touch without fully brushing, and the faces seem to dwell in a self-absorbed time, halted precisely between pastoral offering and dreamlike reverie.
