Curatorial analysis

A strange vigil populates this park submerged in a dense, bluish gloom, where everyday reality merges seamlessly with dreamlike delirium. The public space, immediately recognizable by its concrete benches and white-washed tree trunks, ceases to be a place of civic passage to become a theater of carnal and celestial apparitions.

The scene is articulated across multiple focal points that eschew a single hierarchy. In the lower foreground, visual weight is contested by two contrasting clusters: on the left, naked women of voluptuous flesh rest on a bench, oblivious to outside gazes; on the right, a reddish horse that seems to have escaped the carousel moves forward mounted by two other nude figures, led by a man in a hat, dark suit, and snow-white wings on his back. This winged figure is not alone, as the background reveals several similar beings, suited gentlemen with wings wandering among undressed strollers and a rotating merry-go-round whose yellow bulbs flicker like mechanical fireflies.

The chromatic handling bathes the scene in a vegetal, nocturnal atmosphere, where olive greens and petroleum blues act as a unifying mantle. Warm flashes emerge against this somber ground, such as the horse's glowing coat or the yellowish touches on the grass, while the white of the lime wash and the wings lends an almost phosphorescent luminosity. The pictorial matter, rich in scumbles and textures that reveal underlying layers, grants the bodies a throbbing fleshiness that contrasts with the density of the shadows.

By suspending the boundaries between childhood play and adult eroticism, the painting turns the nighttime stroll into a procession of repressed desires and profane mythologies. Nothing in the park seems to disturb its dwellers: the absurdity is embraced with the natural composure of someone moving through a shared dream before dawn.
