Curatorial analysis

Three weightless pocket watches hang from the sky, stretched by an imaginary gravity that distorts their golden rims into motionless droplets. Rather than resting limply upon branches or ledges, these dials float over a pristine wetland, watched over from above by dense jungle islets resting on beds of clouds. There is an uncommon order in this arrangement: vegetation ascends into the celestial heights while the device that measures time descends toward the water, inverted in its logic and suspended halfway between earth and firmament.

The pictorial space is structured around a rigorous interplay of symmetries and vertical correspondences. The largest watch commands the central axis, flanked by two smaller dials that echo the placement of the three floating forest masses. Below, the terrestrial landscape responds calmly, spreading out a plain of green pastures furrowed by meandering channels of clear water that sharply reflect the deformed hands and numerals. This aquatic mirror doubles the presence of the airborne objects, creating a sustained tension between the lightness of the air and the fixity of the waterlogged ground.

The surface reveals a smooth, meticulous finish, where the acrylic renders every leaf, palm, and marsh grass blade with near-botanical patience. This fidelity to the physical texture of the setting contrasts deliberately with the oneiric nature of the scene. By transposing the motif of the melting clock into a tropical geography, the piece strips time of its utilitarian function and yields it to the slow tempo of the marsh. More than decay or mortality, what emerges is a luminous suspension, where the passing of hours dissolves into the quiet contemplation of a landscape untouched by haste.
