Curatorial analysis

A blue horse cuts across the celestial vault dragging an enormous golden bell, suspended in a serene weightlessness that subverts physical logic. Around this unusual flight, several umbrellas drift like tiny airborne parachutes, while the Andean slopes fold into bluish tones that merge earth and atmosphere. This aerial occurrence does not seem to disturb the tranquility of the hamlet resting at the foot of the mountains, where the church's white architecture presides over an open square.

Space is arranged in stratified planes with an almost devotional neatness. In the foreground, a verdant hillside of deep greens and rounded contours anchors the gaze to solid ground. From there, the eye ascends toward the civic and religious epicenter: a warm-domed church flanked by rows of houses whose roofs vibrate in multicolored mosaics. Small figures gathered before the temple, a local bus, and a truck carrying passengers lend human scale and a folkloric pulse to the scene, establishing a poetic tension between community routine and the marvel unfolding overhead.

Across a support measuring barely twenty by twenty-four centimeters, the paint is applied with miniaturist precision. The surface displays a smooth finish, with crisp outlines and subtle gradations that lend the sky a diaphanous, luminous clarity. The volumes of the figures and vehicles, resolved through synthetic yet eloquent touches, coexist with the meticulous rendering of roof tiles and belfries.

The scene transforms the literary echo of its title into a visual metaphor for collective memory and spiritual transition. By dislodging the bell from its tower and elevating it alongside animals and everyday objects that defy gravity, the tolling ceases to be a mournful warning, turning instead into a suspended celebration, a rural mystery where the sacred and the fantastic share the exact same horizon.
