Curatorial analysis

A fleshy, totemic trunk anchors the central axis of the canvas, defying any idyllic notion of nature to establish itself as a mutant, flayed organism. From its whitish shaft sprout not botanical branches, but human and bestial excrescences: bulging faces, nervous torsos, and appendages hovering between the phallic and the zoomorphic. The main mass, loaded with thick impastos, scrapings, and drippings that reveal fleshy pink and bruised under-layers, operates as a biological backbone in perpetual convulsion within the pictorial space.

A severe counterpoint exists between the tactile density of the central core and the graphic sharpness delineating its satellite creatures. To the left, a cadaverous figure rendered in relentless blacks and harsh whites strides forward and points beyond the frame, tautly directing tension toward an unseen threat outside the field of view. To the right, propped upon a bare limb, a solitary head observes the scene with a toothless, mocking grimace. At the crest, the nexus resolves into a spectral visage with drenched, hollow sockets and upright ears, while a carmine-red outgrowth, viscous and vivid, erupts on the lower right flank to shatter the muted coolness of the composition with a purely visceral jolt.

The background, rendered in an acidic, greyish green through fluid sweeps of acrylic that lay bare the quickness of the brush, denies any spatial ground or conventional perspective. This bare atmosphere turns the hybrid into a monument to disquiet, amplified by the calligraphic text in the lower left quadrant, inscribed almost like a diary entry or a jailhouse scrawl. Quintana discards any comforting botanical metaphor. What emerges is a genealogical tree of unhinged lineages where the human condition is stripped down to its most raw fragility, caught in a cycle of offshoots where bitter laughter, nightmare, and bodily survival collide.
