Curatorial analysis

The right arm outstretched toward the void, fingers drooping with eloquent languor, instantly gives away the game: the title is not an innocent puzzle, but a phonetic pun merging the Sistine Chapel with the earthly act of soaking in a tub. The foundational gesture of Adam awaiting the divine spark is confined here to the enameled edge of a freestanding bathtub, where a voluptuous, caricatured figure transforms the grandiloquence of sacred art into a comic vignette of intimacy.

The figure commands the pictorial plane with a corpulent presence bounded by thick, almost heraldic black contours. The face is reduced to a bulbous protrusion where a single circular eye, stunned and unblinking, gazes toward the upper corner without revealing any emotion. There is a deliberate flatness to the silhouette, dispensing with traditional chiaroscuro in favor of broad, solid color fields. The nude, tan-toned body sits improbably wedged inside the pale vessel, bending a knee to fit into a scale that clearly feels too tight.

Behind this graphic planarity, the exterior space vibrates with an unexpected material treatment. Munguía does not leave the sky or the green hills as simple neutral backdrops, but instead organizes them into reticulated cells covered by a shower of raised paint dots. These thick droplets create an almost tactile texture that catches grazing light, contrasting with the nearly industrial smoothness of the body and the tub. The domestic and mundane is displaced outdoors, amidst cobbles and green fields, dissolving any notion of modesty. The solemnity of the Western canon evaporates effortlessly into an open-air bath that dispenses with visible water, replacing it with the purely playful impulse of painting.
