The pouring of ripe coffee cherries articulates the pulse of the entire scene. At the center, a white cloth pulled taut by the arms of a harvester funnels crimson berries into a woven basket held by a bending woman. This transfer not only establishes the point of greatest chromatic intensity, but also traces a descending diagonal that links the man's physical effort with the attentive, grounded reception of his counterpart. Surrounding this working core, barefoot figures standing on the soil of the coffee plantation reveal a daily reality where physical weariness coexists with the precision of agricultural labor.
Arturo Sánchez organizes space through tiered planes that grant spatial depth to the plantation. To the left, two secondary figures continue working among lush coffee bushes laden with foliage, while to the right a seated youth resting upon a sack offers a contemplative pause, gazing toward the adults' effort. The brushwork assumes a dual nature: it is loose, broken, and textured across the trodden earth and deep green foliage stippled with red, while gaining anatomical definition and volumetric solidity across flesh, clothing, and facial features. The diffuse yet enveloping daylight accentuates the vivid yellow of the blouse and the muted purple of the skirt, setting them against the earthy restraint of the terrain.
In the lower foreground, an idle basket holding a glass bottle and a wrapped bundle introduces an immediate testimonial note. This improvised still life reaffirms the human dimension of rural labor, stripping it of any decorative artifice. The scene dispenses with exaggerated dramatism to honor the shared cadence of the harvest, where collective endeavor culminates in the unspoken sound of ripe fruit tumbling into woven wicker.
