Curatorial analysis

A keyboard that renounces rectilinear geometry twists through pictorial space like a living organism, barely supported by threadlike legs that cast shadows onto a dense, vibrant crimson background. There is no pianist present in the scene; instead, a multitude of knobby, hyper-articulated fingers of rough texture colonizes the keys. Each appendage seems to act with its own will, pressing down, crawling, or detaching at the margins like scattered fragments, turning musical performance into an almost entomological march.

The sinuous trajectory of the keys traces an organic curve that evokes both the infinity sign and a disarticulated string instrument. At the center of this loop, an ivory core is traversed by a solitary taut string and a dark pin, a minimal axis that provides a deceptive sense of tuning to a structure defying physical stability. The application of oil becomes meticulous in the tactile relief of the phalanges, depicted with deep wrinkles, warm shadows, and direct highlights that contrast with the relative stillness of the flat key surfaces.

The clash between the fragmented monochrome of the keyboard and the ochre warmth of the crawling fingers intensifies against the all-encompassing red abyss. Stripped of its traditional resonance chamber, the piano transmutes into a hybrid creature whose sound can only be intuited through relentless movement. The interaction between the rigid and the biological proposes an evocative allegory of musical obsession, where the performer does not play the instrument, but is rather devoured and fragmented by the very anatomy of the craft.
