Curatorial analysis

A mineral, motionless silence governs this landscape where the water neither flows nor trembles. Before us opens a nocturnal inlet flanked by vegetal masses of a strangely organic geometry, like petrified clouds or coral colonies emerging from a glassy surface. The scale commands an almost hypnotic stillness, sustained by a restrained palette that explores the tensions between shadowy greens and an unfathomable spectrum of blues.

The space is articulated through tongues of land entering the scene from both sides, alternating across successive planes to guide the eye in a deliberate zigzag toward the background. There, right along the horizontal cut that divides the sky from the watery mirror, bursts a stripe of icy light. That remote, almost phosphorescent luminescence reverses the logic of traditional moonlight: it does not fall from above, but rather emanates from an inaccessible beyond, silhouetting the wooded masses in a serene backlighting.

A rigorous technical duality exists in its execution. On one hand, the masses of foliage are rendered through an obsessive accumulation of tiny, semicircular brushstrokes, granting the canopies a plush, tactile texture endowed with volume and weight. On the other, both the atmosphere of the sky and the aquatic sheet are devoid of visible brushwork; they are perfectly blended gradients where reflections fade vertically into a spectral haze. This opposition between the sculptural density of the islets and the immateriality of the liquid realm imbues the whole with a timeless aura.

The painting offers a territory poised midway between coastal geography and metaphysical reverie. There are no figures, no vessels, no signs of human passage; only the endurance of a self-sufficient nature, suspended in the precise moment where night seems to hold its breath.
