Curatorial analysis

A bird with vibrant plumage crowns the scene like a motionless sentinel. Its elongated silhouette, speckled with white and crimson, rests upon a mound of stylized leaves, commanding a composition where landscape order unfolds in rigorously measured horizontal bands. The screenprint constructs space through the accumulation of chromatic planes that oscillate between geometric stillness and the graphic vibration of floral motifs.

At the base, an ochre-toned strip of grass supports a profusion of open corollas. These flowers, rendered in sky blues, whites, and deep reds with vibrant yellow centers, seem to press upward against the boundary of a vertical wooden fence. This palisade serves as a visual hinge between the foreground and the distance: the left side preserves a grayish, almost textile-like screen texture, while the right section shifts into a warm pink crossed by a thin white line suggestive of wire or a fracture of light.

Behind the enclosure, the geography rises into compact masses of cobalt and ultramarine blue, carving out the pyramidal profile of a peak. Set against this crisp backdrop, an orange sun encircled by a pale halo fixes the atmosphere in a suspended instant, characteristic of a Caribbean lyricism where the everyday takes on an almost mythical presence. Visual tensions find equilibrium between the weight of the hills and the lightness of the bird's feathers, whose frayed edges appear ready to dissolve into the wind.

The interplay between flat surfaces and textured passages demonstrates a rigorous mastery of screenprinting. Each color inhabits its layer with clarity, allowing the overlapping inks to generate a tactile density across the petals and plumage, turning a rural vignette into an icon of serene contemplation.
