Curatorial analysis

The humid, water-laden air is the true matter structuring this view. Even before the foliage or the contours of the hills, the tone is dictated by that low mist rising from the ravines, dissolving the boundaries between the earth and the leaden sky. From a shadowed clearing in the immediate foreground, the viewer peers out as if from within a vegetal cathedral toward an expanse where light, filtered through dense cloud cover, does not glare but rather dampens every visual plane.

The scene is organized through a rigorous transition of densities. At the base, dark trunks and compact undergrowth act as a telluric, almost opaque anchor for the eye. Yet, as the terrain rises and opens into rolling ridges, the forest yields to pasture clearings brushed with cool light, eventually dissolving into mountain chains where plant matter turns into diffuse silhouette. A deliberate rhythm exists between the weight of deep greens and the volatile lightness of suspended vapor, a counterpoint that endows the scale with a tranquil monumentality.

On the canvas surface, the oil paint shifts from a meticulous, dappled touch (capable of defining illuminated canopies without stiffening into botanical pedantry) to broad, silky glazes across the atmospheric zones. The artist avoids harsh contrasts, modulating distance through subtle tonal gradations that cool the greens into grayish blues as they recede into the haze.

By deliberately dispensing with human presence or any trace of civil intervention, the landscape stands as an autonomous, living, and silent entity. The work does not depict a picturesque postcard, but rather a state of weather: that precise moment when the mountain breathes and the cloud forest retreats into its own mystery.
