Curatorial analysis

Two decommissioned masses of metal rest one atop the other against an absolute plane of carmine red. Goizueta decontextualizes the automotive scrapyard: he removes every trace of workshop, weeds, or everyday asphalt, turning the accumulated scrap into a totem suspended in the void. The verticality of the stack disrupts the horizontal logic that defines an automobile in motion; here, the vehicles have lost their kinetic function to become monument and deadweight.

On the lower chassis, the passage of time operates as a canvas within the canvas. The faded sky-blues of the original paint compete with ochre corrosion and streaks of earthy rust gnawing at the hood. The hollowed headlight sockets face the viewer like blind cavities, heightening the machine's fossil-like nature. Above it, the second vehicle retains a red front end and the intact gaze of its four headlights, balancing on the collapsed roof of its companion in an almost anthropomorphic cohabitation.

A dissonant element intrudes in the foreground, a dark, ribbed, elongated panel leaning upright against the lower grille. Its presence breaks the frontal symmetry and adds a layer of strangeness to the assemblage, as if it were a prosthesis or a shield detached from the structure itself. The ground barely exists beneath an atomized black splatter, a graphic residue that minimally tethers the weight of tons of sheet metal to the support.

The title, Cómplices (Accomplices), suggests a silent pact between two survivors of industrial discard. By isolating these shells against the monochrome purity of the background, the painting does not document mere mechanical ruin, but rather the sculptural dignity matter assumes once human utility has thoroughly abandoned it.
