Curatorial analysis

A chromatic flare invades everything. The surface erupts in a tempest of vermilion reds, oranges, and flashes of yellow that seem to burn without consuming the canvas. Amidst this visual turbulence emerges the bare back of a figure caught mid-spin or in the inflection of a dance. The vertical tension traced by the raised arm and hands serves as the sole anchor against the surrounding whirlwind, honoring the title of the canvas with almost choreographic precision.

Rendered in luminous whites, veiled lilacs, and cool flesh tones, this body does not compete with the background: it contains it. The thermal contrast is dramatic, separating the outer fire from the marble-like discipline of the anatomy. Toward the lower center, the dark mass of pinned hair, cinched by a crimson gleam, introduces an abrupt break that arrests the gaze and acts as a pivot for the rest of the scene. From that bowed head springs the upward thrust culminating in the subtle tension of the fingers intertwined against the air.

Paint is applied with a dizzying rhythm where the palette knife or wide brush leaves angular traces, almost like splinters of color suspended in space. There are no crisp contours; the skin catches the draft of its environment and the boundaries between figure and atmosphere dissolve deliberately. This material vibration imbues the painting with an undeniable acoustic quality, akin to a restrained heel-strike or the sudden flight of a flamenco dress.

That «fixed point» sought by every dancer to keep their center during a pirouette ultimately shifts onto the viewer. What might have been a mere exercise in gestural drama transforms into a meditation on equilibrium: how to sustain calm, form, and direction when everything around threatens to boil over into pure fire.
